I have 2 shih tzu puppies. 7mo. old male is very obedient and confident. My 5 mo. old female immediately rolls over on her back with paws up when you reach out to pet her. I got them both from private breeders when they were each about 8 weeks old. Is this normal? Is she sad? Is this a big problem and how should I correct it?

They are simply showing you that you are the dominent one in the pack……..
I love Shih Tzus…….
I think it is normal, my female chi does that and it is just because she wants her belly rubbed, so rub her belly and let her know shes a good girl!
its not a problem she is just showing you where she wants to be petted/rubbed
This isn’t a bad thing. It just means she’s super submissive. In the wild, dogs/wolves lay on their backs and expose their tummies to the leader of the pack to let them know that they trust them fully and will follow them.
She’s just letting you know that she knows who’s boss.
